Htr2a Mouse Strains

A suite of Htr2a reporter mice generated by CRISPR-mediated recombination at the endogenous Htr2a locus. The Roth lab developed three Htr2a reporter mouse lines (listed below). Two have EGFP fusion proteins (one with a humanized mouse receptor and the other with the native mouse receptor), which provide reliable tags for biochemical and anatomical studies, avoiding the limitation of non-specific antibodies or RNA-based detection methods. Additionally, a bicistronic design incorporating either Cre or CreERT2 facilitates genetic labeling of HTR2A-expressing cells. All details can be found in A suite of engineered mice for interrogating psychedelic drug actions Nature Neuroscience (2026) Chiu YT, et al. PMID: 42563032; DOI: 10.1038/s41593-026-02375-0 .
